2. We are sticking with the two topic assignments, one relating to the last presentation, the second to one of the rules of composition. Complete just one, or if you want to step up to the challenge, do both. 

3. We are starting to put together a plan for a PhotoWalk in May to shoot some wildflowers up in the foothills. 

4.  This month's presentation will start with Chuck Knowles sharing some tips and recommendations on file storage and redundancy. With what time is left, Glen will be sharing some more tips on photoshop and or lightroom. It will also be a good time to ask any question anyone may have about anything.

4.  This month's presentation "Lightroom and Photoshop what's new" Glen is going to share some of his Photoshop and lightroom skills with all of us. Glen has an extensive knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom, has taught many of us some of what we know today. Glen loves answering questions too so if there is something specific you want demonstrated in Photoshop make sure you chime in.

3.       I wanted to mention that at last month's meeting, it was so nice to be able to see everyone's favorite shorts through the year. I think we all learned a lot and I know that I was inspired to try some new things in this year. 

4.  This month's presentation takes a deep dive into another perspective on wildlife by Jeff Black.  Past homework assignments and photo presentations are often birdy, but last fall he donned a snorkel mask underwater instead of his bins.  He will do a little recap of his travel to French Polynesia where he and his wife had the chance to dance with humpback whales.  Hopefully his talk can convey the charms of this watery change of perspective and a few lessons he learned in his brief time in the sunny South Pacific.

2.       This month we will be sharing new gear. This is fun, we have done this before and it is good to learn about some of the new equipment out there. We have not had anyone notify Glen or me of anything they want to share, so if you do have something just bring it. Glen and I have a few things to share, if there is time, Glen will share some tips and tricks in Photoshop. 

3. This is a hard time of year to get outside and take some pictures, but it is a great time to review some of the Fundamentals of Photography courses we have provided in 2023. All of the recordings at alias: MPC. If when watching these and you have questions, feel free to bring them up during our meetings or reach out to members directly.

2.       This month's presentation is to teach the basics of how to do dance photography.  Michael Lee who has been photographing Dance for many years. I have seen some of his images and they are outstanding. Michael has presented for our club before. Expect to get some great tips and see some incredible photography!

3. We had our Holiday Christmas Lights Photowalk last week of 2023. It was a lot of fun. We walked from the Grove to the Capital and took pictures of a lot of things in-between. You can head on over to the PhotoWalk gallery on our club's site and check some of the images out.  

4. This is a good time of year to review the pictures you have taken in 2023. I like to do this every year. I choose some of my favorites and to a 2023 favorites gallery. I use this gallery when I need pictures for photo contests I am entering, or making calendars or cards, or just to show off to family. Our assignment for this month is to share your best shot of the year! 

Michael Lee's Boi

I started photography in the 1960s with a Brownie Hawkeye camera. I got into competitive Ballroom Dance in the later 1970s. I worked my way through school as the University’s fine arts photographer. I also managed a couple of camera stores. (Remember when local camera stores were a thing?)

 

I married a dancer who graduated with a degree in photography. We have kids that dance competitively and professionally. Our youngest daughter has a degree in media arts with an emphasis in videography. She is a working photographer/videographer and dances competitively at the National level. Our middle daughter works as a degree in dance and works as a dance instructor. We have grandkids that dance and compete. My wife and I have been teaching dance classes for the last 15 years. Needless to say I have had a little practice doing dance photography and videography.

 

My presentation will be focused on helping others improve their dance photography, whether it be of young children during a recital or advanced dancers performing and competing.

2.       This month presentation was put together based on several recommendations on topics to cover as a part of our Fundamentals of Photography series "Night Photography". Chuck Knowles will be sharing some pictures, stories and experiences on Night Photography. It is not all about Astro! Night Photography is a lot of fun and can be for all skill levels of photography. The expectation is that after this presentation everyone will have the tools to do some Night Photography.  

3. We had our Autumn Photo walk last weekend. It was a success, with great turn out. We have a gallery on our SmugMug site where you see some of the shots. Also, for those who participated, remember to upload your images. 

4. This is a good time of year to begin thinking about sharing your photography as gifts this year. Calendars, Holiday Cards, and framed artwork.  There is plenty of time if you start now.

2.       This month presentation will be on taking family photos. In the survey we send out to the Club, one of the topics folks would most like to learn was on taking better family photos. Glen will be sharing some of his experience and techniques on how to take better family pictures. 

3. We have a photowalk planned for Saturday October 28th at the MK Nature Center. OCM and E-mail with details will be send out soon. Should be a great time to get out with a camera and shoot some fall color!   

4. We are about at the end of our Fundamentals of Photography Series. So far, we have presented on (Composition, Smart Phot and Selfie's, Landscape, Lightroom Baics, Portrait and Posing, Sharpening, Wildlife, and this week Family) The question we will bring up at the meeting is "What Else". We plan to have one more month of Fundamentals then get back to other presentations for the club. So bring your ideas to the meeting Thursday of send me an E-mail of what else you would like.

2.       This month presentation we get a real treat. In the survey we send out to the Club, one of the topics folks would most like to learn was Wildlife photography. Glen will be sharing some of his experience and wisdom in a talk about Wildlife Photography. I consider Glen to be one of the best Wildlife photographers around. I'll bet he will have some pictures to share too. This is one you do not want to miss, and yes you can watch the recording later, but you will want to be there to ask questions.

Andy Goris Background: 

     I was an electrical engineer for 40 years, starting at Hewlett Packard in 1979, working on computer graphics accelerators until 2000 when I joined HP's digital camera team.  In 2012 I retired from HP and joined Microsoft to work on cameras and sensors for the HoloLens augmented reality computer until I retired 2 years ago, April 2021.  I had about 20 years in the camera design business.

     An Idaho based author, artist and photographer. As author and publisher of Idaho Waters and Boise: City of Trees, David has showcased his love of Idaho in with writing from him and the staff of BoiseDev. His art is can be seen in galleries, homes and businesses worldwide.

Glen Hush Lightening Photography

When we hear thunder and see lightening, most of retreat to the protection on indoors. Glen when he hears the same, grabs his camera and heads out into the night. 

Glan has been photographing lightening for over 20 years. In his 20 years he has developed some techniques that give his work a unique GLEN signature. In his presentation he will share with us the best time to go out, the best set up for capturing lightning, and some of his favorite locations around Boise.

Jeff Black: is a member of the Micron Photo Club since the startup, but he's been dabbling around photographing his experiences for a long time.  He remembers annoying his parents taking candid snapshots with a 110 film camera as they arrived home from a workday or playing historian during his time in the local scout troop.  While the tendency was to document the more magical travel experiences over time, perhaps a more in depth study started with an early Olympus digital camera and writing web pages in an early blog like post for a trip to the Everest base camp area.  This cascaded in time to a Nikon DSLR, a pocket Canon for running, and lately a Fuji mirrorless.  Now he has finally broken and also acquired an iPhone which can be useful too.  In recent years he has turned his lens more often to birds near and far while teamed up with his wife Dondi who often leads field trips for the local Audubon chapter.  The photos are often coupled with novellas covering travel and various forms of self propelled motion, mainly ultrarunning, which are compiled into a blog for personal context and maybe for someone to even read.

 

His presentation to the photo club will cover his first visit to Costa Rica last year, titled Costa Rica:  Visions in the Rainforest.  There will be a number of colorful birds but also frogs, sloths, flowers, and a reptile or two, all of which made an impression and he hopes to return someday.  Perhaps you too may be inspired to visit this place of fantastic natural wonders that many call home.
