    Josh Perkins

Hi everyone, my name is Josh Perkins, I’ll be the speaker on the astrophotography. In 2011 I joined the US Navy and served for 6 years as a Nuclear Machinist on the USS John C Stennis. In June 2017 I got hired by Micron in the Photo Mask department and shortly thereafter moved to the Sustaining Engineering in Mask. Just this past October, however, my wife received an offer to work in a position she greatly favored in Salt Lake City – and therefore I separated with Micron and we moved our family amidst the pandemic. Now I’m employed as a Critical Facilities Technician for a data center down here!

While I was employed with Micron I submitted some photos to be hung in one of the buildings that included Astro shots, and that’s where your board spotted my work and looked me up. I am humbled to be asked to talk for your group as I’ve only been astro-imaging for a few years and most people I know that shoot space images have been doing it for decades longer than me. My guest talk is scheduled for the meeting on the 7th of January and I’m excited to give you folks a run down of the basics of the hobby and answer any questions anyone might have!
